The difference in tone between talking vaguely of "energy" or "vibes" vs citing something scientific like the piezoelectric effect is striking, even though you're essentially describing the same thing. Great insights!

When I walked into the crystal exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History, I was hit with a nearly physical "buzz." I don't know whether it was electricity or vibes alone, but standing in a room surrounded by the most beautiful stones I've ever seen all together was a magical experience for sure.

Very interesting! There is definitely some sort of energetic property in crystals. The question is, how much do they affect us?

I've no clue. I mean, if crystals affect us on the basis of their electrical properties, I would wager that our smartphones affect us more than the stones on our nightstands.

So I have a very interesting story about this. I will note that at the time I was not Orthodox and I was still involved in the occult (ritual magic, divination, astral body / energy manipulation, etc.).

On the autumn equinox of 2023 I was traveling around Illinois with a friend to gather soil samples for an academic project of his. We were in Western Illinois traveling to a flower farm to gather soil, and we had almost made it to our destination. I was driving and my friend, Ben, was sitting in the passenger seat next to me. We got off the highway and turned onto a state road which was carved through a large hill that extended for a mile or so. It was a four lane road, and the mountain had been carved through so that there were rock walls extending about 100 feet up on either side of the road. The *second* that we are in between the walls, I suddenly feel my entire body light up like a torch, particularly my spine, head, and heart. It is a similar sensation to the ones I have had when communing with a spirit, and it felt like an extremely amplified version of how I feel when I performed magic (where I would often use crystals such as seraphinite, selenite, and clear quartz).

Naturally, I start freaking out, hahaha! I ask Ben "Hey man do you feel that?" He says "Yes," in a very serious and startled tone. I say, verbatim "It feels like crystal white light" (this will be important later). This continues for most of the time we are in this mountain tunnel, and it stops after we leave. We vow to come back and see what's up with that place after we gather our soil. We gather our soil (from a lady who studied essential oil therapy and spoke about how the consciousness of the Earth was raising due to angelic influence, no less), and then immediately drive back to the hill. At sunset, we pull over on the side of the road (the sensation returns), and my friend Ben rushes out towards the wall.

He reaches into a crack in the wall and, I kid you not, literally pulls out a heart-shaped and heart sized chunk of quartz. I look at the wall more closely, and we begin to realize that, though partially obscured by limestone and soil, we are standing in a massive surface quartz deposit. I brush off the surface layer of dirt over a piece of the wall near my legs. Quartz. I look around me. Quartz. Everywhere. We can't help but simply smile with glee. Ben begins to climb the wall, I start intoning high pitched tones to see if I can get what essentially amounts to a mile-long resonance chamber to start vibrating. After turning my body around in various directions towards the opposite side of the road at different tones, I eventually find one that resonates. Again, I kid you not, the entire area between the two rock walls begins to hum and ring with a high pitched tone. Ben joins in, and the sensation amplifies even further. My body feels like a star at this point, and out of gratitude for the entire circumstance I pray to God for peace in the world, hoping the quartz chamber can help amplify my prayer into the energy field of the Earth and spiritually upwards towards God. I have pictures of proof if you want to see. One of the most magical experiences of my life for sure!

Thank you for the article. God bless.

Incredible!! Hopefully someday I can experience something that cool. I myself have a piece of selenite and several pieces of quartz and I know exactly what kind of feeling you mean. Selenite especially gives off this palpable "buzzing" feeling.

Thank you for sharing!

One very interesting note about piezoelectricity: The human bone is piezoelectric. That means, and has been demonstrated, that the human skeleton is a crystalline structure that generates necessary electricity for our bodies every time we walk and compress/decompress the bones.

To take it another step further Gerald Pollack's 4th state of water is about a 'liquid crystalline water', which is to say a self sorting organized water structure. He argues that pretty much biological process in the human body require this type of water.

Can new age crystals do stuff? Probably. Do they work in the manner new age hippies describe? Probably not. It really reads as a case where -someone- knew what they were doing and the knowledge got corrupted and useless very quickly because they did not have a strong tradition or way to pass down accurate practice.

Very fascinating, thank you for sharing! I had no idea that bones were a crystalline structure, but it makes sense if they are piezoelectric.

In regards to crystals, electricity and biology we are in the fun situation where there's a lot of evidence but no accepted unified theory. In truth it's that the older institutions don't want to accept it but at the same time have no interest in suppressing the unusual data points because they cannot fit them into their worldview at all. Even moreso than the AI/cyborg fetishists, this bioelectric field is probably the medicine of the future.
